Common Ground 2013, digital painting, size variable

One of the things that I like about the fractal paintings is that they can be rendered at any size. The only limitation is the hardware to project or print the image. The thing to understand is that when a fractal image is blown up, it is not just a bigger view of a smaller picture. It is in fact a different picture. This is because elements of the fractal which were not visible at the smaller size reveal themselves at the larger size, ad infinitum. I have posted a new picture entitled "Silver Seed" with four details to illustrate this point. Again, any part of any of the details could be blown up to reveal hidden structures.

Interstate 87 is also known as the New York Thruway. I drive back and forth between Cold Spring and Woodstock 3 or 4 times a week, so I spend a lot of time on I-87. I have gotten in the habit of chanting the jewel in the lotus mantra on the way up to Woodstock. (On the way home I listen to WDST).

To see the entire picture, which is a triptych, please click on the thumbnail.

Early Autumn and Brother are based on the same fractal with slight variations. Color differences and adjustments of subsidiary compositional elements create a big difference in mood between the two pieces. Also, Brother has been revised from an earlier post.
