WASP-142b 2016. Digital painting. Size variable.

This is the first picture I've made with new fractal software that my daughter Zoe and her wife Yun gave me for Christmas. The title refers specifically to a planet discovered by a 15 year old English boy in 2015. The planet is about 1000 light years away. WASP is an acronym for Wide Angle Search for Planets.

Red Mountain 2016. Digital painting. Size variable.

All the imagery in this picture is generated through my use of fractal software called Chaotica. There are multiple separate renders that I've composited with Photoshop.

by the river 2015. Digital painting. Size variable.

This piece is different from the other work I have been doing recently, in that the composition is not centered. However the mix of iPhone photograph, fractal and 3D imagery remains the same.
midnight sutra 2015. Digital painting. Size variable

The underlying image is my photo of a piece in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection which is currently on view as part of the China: Through the Looking Glass exhibition. There is no "midnight sutra" as far as I know, although an internet search revealed a restaurant by that name in New Zealand. The face is intriguing to me because it seems to be smiling even though the corners of the mouth are downturned. The figure seems to be saying, "there is definitely something I could tell you, but the best way to do so is to remain silent."
