Greetings fellow earth creature 2012 digital painting

Prince of Darkness and Sun Ship hearken back to works I did over 45 years ago. At that time, I had just become aware of the music of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. I made collage paintings of both, painting over found objects glued to canvas. I had the great good fortune to hear both Davis and Coltrane perform live with their best groups and I was profoundly influenced by their mastery and originality. Davis was the consummate stylist and Coltrane showed me that spiritual quest could still be a serious endeavor.

The four new pictures I've posted today combine many of the things I've been working on for the past couple of years. The new element is my return to the use of fractals as part of the mix. I've discovered a $20 fractal generator called Fractal Domains that has been an inspiration. These pictures also make extensive use of Photoshop's layering capabilities, especially the various ways in which layers can interact. For example, "big wheel popcorn" began with two fractal patterns combined one over the other. Anyone who wants more specific information can feel free to contact me.
